Trigonometry – Missing Angles
Created this in order to try and overcome the problem of students seeing trigonometry of ‘that thing with SOH CAH TOA’ and it being something entirely procedural. My Year 9s are getting on really well with this – question 10 is a wonderful discussion point.
NB. Have intentionally not varied orientation of triangles here – that’s something that I will do in a separate exercise.
Solving Equations with Fractions
Compound Measures – Calculating Speed
A really quick introductory exercise on calculating speed – intentionally created to develop the concept of speed – rather than something they immediately need a triangle for!
Solving Equations with Fractions: Cross-Multiplication
Fractions of Amounts – Reverse
Simplifying Algebraic Fractions
A more introductory set of questions on simplifying algebraic fractions – no knowledge of quadratics is required.
Algebraic Fractions: Adding/Subtracting
Algebraic Fractions: Multiplying/Dividing
Students do not need to expand double brackets/factorise quadratic expressions to access these.
